Create a frame - utilizing Mod Podge and wrapping paper

Hello everyone! I’m Justine from the Sew Country Chick blog, presenting a quick and simple Mod Podge project for you today. Today’s endeavor is a rapid space revamp – a DIY frame!

Recently, I’ve observed at the craft store that there are some incredibly adorable rolls of wrapping paper in the one dollar bin. The light texture of the paper is ideal for Mod Podge projects!

While I adore scrapbook paper, it doesn’t always suit projects that necessitate wrapping around the edges, as this frame did.

I highly suggest saving wrapping paper from all your gifts for use in crafts. Yes, you’ll be that individual. But the silver lining is that when you need it, it will be there – for free.

A note about wrapping paper: it creases more readily than many scrapbook papers. I strongly advise conducting a test on a scrap piece of wood or a $1 frame before commencing your final project.

If you discover that the Mod Podge is causing the wrapping paper to crumple, mist the wrapping paper first (I utilize a spray bottle) with water next time you attempt it. Moistening the wrapping paper prior to Mod Podging is effective – I can’t explain why, but it truly works!

Here’s how to create a wrapping paper adorned picture frame . . . with just a handful of supplies:

Wrapping paper frame step 1

Begin with an unpainted frame like the one depicted above. They are just a couple of dollars at the craft store, or you can utilize an old frame you have lying around gathering dust.

Wrapping paper frame step 2

Trim the wrapping paper with roughly a one-inch excess as shown above. Apply Mod Podge to the back of the frame and encase the frame. Allow it to dry.

After the paper dries, you can apply a couple of coats of Mod Podge over the frame to encase and safeguard it. I used Mod Podge Antique to age the frame; I appreciate how it does that, but standard Mod Podge will work just as well!
