Beaded Spider Tutorial You Can Make at Home

I am somewhat astonished with myself for presenting this craft to you today, as I have a strong aversion to spiders! They terrify me.

Actually, I am coaching my children to catch and release spiders so I don’t have to. 😂

Yet these spiders are quite charming, and I appreciate that they won’t ambush me.

Materials Needed

Wire Preparation

I am utilizing 20-gauge wire, although other gauges can be employed. Just ensure that the wire passes through every bead.

Segment 4 pieces of wire, each measuring around 10-12 inches in length.

At one end of each wire, bend a small loop. This will stop the beads from slipping off the wire’s end.

To accomplish this, grip the very tip of the wire with round-nose pliers and twist it to create a small circle.

Spider Appendages

For each wire strand, you’ll need to replicate this sequence. These will form the spider’s legs.

Thread the beads all the way down until they are snug against the end loop you created in the wire.

Once all four wires are beaded with the identical pattern, ensure the legs are uniform and tightly secured with round-nose pliers.

This section can be somewhat challenging. As demonstrated by the twisted ends of the wires, I had to repeat this process several times before achieving satisfactory results.

Grip the pliers firmly and twist the legs. Aim for a nice, tight twist as shown in the second image.

Spider Body

Form the spider’s head by inserting the headpin through 1 small bead cap -> 1 12mm black bead -> 1 small bead cap.

Insert the headpin amidst the wires already twisted for the legs, then keep twisting the wires to secure the headpin in place.

This part is somewhat challenging, and having an extra pair of hands would be beneficial, as you don’t want the headpin to slip out while you twist.

I gripped the 4 wires a bit lower down the strands and twisted them further.

To the headpin, append the large bead cap -> 25mm red bead -> large bead cap -> 1, 4mm black bead at the headpin’s end for the spider’s abdomen.

At the headpin’s end, I crafted a wire-wrapping loop to ensure everything remains secure and together.

My adorable little spider is progressing nicely, but it isn’t completely finished yet. It requires 4 additional legs!

Continue Spider Legs

Following the same pattern as earlier, thread the beads onto the wire for the other 4 legs.

Once all beads are positioned, press them as snugly against the spider’s body as feasible, then create another wire loop and cut off any surplus wire.

Upon completion of all legs, he resembled this. Like a spider, albeit a gloomy and flattened spider.

Gently curve the wires at the initial joint closest to the body to give the illusion that he is upright.
