Nativity Coloring Page
Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright.
This Christmas carol always pulls at my heart, but this year it pulls even harder. This has been a challenging year and many seek this calm earnestly each day, I certainly do.
History of Silent Night
The song, sung by many each Christmas, was written to bring this calm to a small village in Austria. The priest had a friend compose a tune for his poem in the early 1800s. Silent Night was then sung as a carol for the Christmas Eve service. It was accompanied by guitar because the church organ was damaged. The listeners loved it and the carol spread quickly.

Crayons Only for this Simple Nativity Coloring Page
Be sure to use crayons because the stained glass effect depends on a media that will not smear and bleed. When you are finished coloring, cut the picture out on the outside line. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top of the drawing so it may be hung up once finished.
A bit of oil on a cotton ball magic
Place the drawing face down on a plate or cookie sheet. Pour a bit of cooking oil in a shallow dish. Dip a cotton ball in the oil and gently rub it on the drawing till completely covered. You will immediately see the paper turn more translucent. There is no need to keep rubbing once the paper has been touched by the oil. This doesn’t take a lot of oil.
Gently dab any excess oil off the drawing with a paper towel.
Hang the Simple Nativity Coloring Page Up in a Window
Place a ribbon, string or thread through the hold at the top.
Tape the drawing up on a window using the thread at the top.
Cool, huh?
Doesn’t the finished picture look so nice with the light shining through it? You can use this technique on any coloring project on paper. Cool, huh?
Christmas carol, color and hot chocolate- great combo
Coloring is so fun, don’t you think? Heat up some hot chocolate with marshmallows and make a date of it. Of course, doing some Christmas caroling would be a great lead in to this coloring project.
