The Grinch Christmas Coloring Pages

This is my preferred coloring sheet among the 50 or so I’ve created thus far for Welcome To Nanas (don’t I always mention that?). It’s a component of a Grinch collection of coloring pages that also includes Max the dog (my champion) and the adorable Cindy Lou Who (she’s a sweetheart).

Print them out for enjoyable family togetherness, guaranteed to create holiday memories for both the children and yourself.

Adorable Craft Notice: Classic Grinch Coloring Pages

The initial Grinch cartoon was a favorite for my sibling and me after it first premiered on television in 1966. In the era before streaming, we eagerly awaited December and watched it every Christmas. Indeed, I give him a Grinch-themed gift each year on his December birthday. Think ties, pajamas, toys, memorabilia.

This year, he’s receiving a long Grinch arm that connects to the trunk of his Christmas tree. It extends to the edge of the tree and holds a red ornament. Thus, it appears as if the Grinch is nestled within your tree! Ha!

You can relish coloring the Grinch with family and friends as you patiently await dinner or unwind together during the holidays. Print the complimentary coloring sheet (one for each individual, including yourself), gather the colored pencils, markers, or crayons, and play some Christmas tunes.

You’ll engage the kids productively (and quietly) coloring, and they’ll remain occupied until it’s time to unwrap presents!

Instructions to Color Your Free Printable Grinch Coloring Sheet

Step 1: The Grinch’s Santa Outfit and Hat

Oh, make sure to have some Christmas tunes playing in the background while you color! This always enhances the enjoyment of coloring, along with inviting someone to color alongside you!

I began by coloring the Grinch’s Santa outfit. The red crayon I utilized had more of a pink hue than I anticipated, but once I started, I couldn’t alter it, so I just embraced it! I recommend testing the color on a scrap piece of paper to see if it meets your expectation—I wish I had!

Color along the edge of the area and then fill in with your selected color. This prevents you from going outside the lines. You’ll improve as you practice; coloring aids in developing fine motor skills.

The white fluffy portion can be left as plain white paper, which I did since I’m applying cotton balls later for a 3D effect. It could also be lightly shaded with a bit of gray in specific spots to give it dimension. Just draw a few soft lines and shadows to make it appear fluffier.

Repeat this for the Grinch’s Santa hat and color it in. I’m using

the identical crimson for this as I utilized on the Santa outfit. The cap is a crucial element of his concealment and deceives young Cindy Lou Who in the narrative.

Step 2: The Grinch’s Face and Hands

Alright, let’s commence on the Grinch’s facial features. We’re in search of that ideal, Grinchy-green hue. Examine your colored pencils, markers, or crayons for a green shade that sits between lime and forest green, something right in the middle. We are aiming for a hue resembling the Grinch from the films.

Once more, begin by gently sketching the outline of the face section with this shade, then fill it in. Exercise extra caution around his eyes. Keep them as white as possible to paint in a different shade which will make them truly stand out.

Hey, observe that notable smirk on his face. Our hand-drawn coloring page truly captured his playful grin, didn’t it?

For the backdrop of his eyes, I’m selecting a vibrant yellow. It contrasts beautifully with the green and provides him with that traditional, cartoonish appearance. We’ll color in the pupils of his eyes a little later.

Don’t overlook coloring the two hands at the base of the page, as he has his hands resting on his hips. It can be somewhat challenging to recognize they are hands, but observe his long furry fingers. Apply the same green shade to them.

Step 3: The Final Grinch Touches and Background

We are nearly finished! Our Grinch-themed Christmas coloring page is shaping up remarkably.

Find a black shade for the pupils of his eyes and his eyebrows. It appears he’s just devised a delightfully dreadful scheme. This captures the Grinch in his mischief persona! That completes his face.

However, we need the black for one additional aspect…his minuscule heart! Color in the worn little heart on his outfit using the black crayon.

The final significant task involves the background. I left the principal section of the background white, but you could opt for a light blue or another hue if you’d like.

Enjoy coloring the string of lights. I adore those large bulbs and varied their colors.

You’ll observe in the video that I had a blast with some additional glue-ons at the conclusion. I affixed cotton balls on for the Santa suit fuzz and tinted the bulbs and eyes with glitter glue to add some sparkle. Have a great time! Nana’s Specialist Suggestions for Inventive Coloring

These suggestions can enhance coloring the Grinch even more enjoyable!

Expert Suggestion 1: Fluffy Grinch Santa Suit Fur

How about a playful crafting method? Take some cotton balls and separate them into smaller fragments. Adhere them onto the furry sections of the Santa suit for a 3-D furry appearance!

Expert Suggestion 2: Max’s Crimson Nose

Fasten pom-poms onto your coloring illustration. For instance, attach a tiny red pom-pom to Max’s nose instead of simply coloring it. Include other fun glued items if desired from your craft supplies.

Expert Suggestion 3: Creating a Radiance

Note: A delightful item to utilize is glitter glue or metallic markers to make the Christmas lights and ornaments in the illustration shine. I also applied them to the yellow of the Grinch’s eyes!

Expert Suggestion 4: Transform the coloring sheet into a springboard for education.

Read the book or view the Grinch movie. Discuss what the Grinch comprehended and why his heart expanded. How can we be generous and kind towards others now and throughout the year?

This is an excellent chance for familial bonding. It creates wonderful memories collaboratively in a significant manner that endures beyond the coloring session.

How to Utilize or Exhibit Grinch Coloring Pages

While coloring, I thought of some enjoyable concepts for what to do with these illustrations once they’re completed. Let’s spread the Grinch joy and the cherished memories we’re creating!

  • Employ the coloring sheet you’ve adorned to wrap a small present for a personal touch.
  • Disassemble the picture and use sections for gift tags.
  • Print the coloring page 4 per sheet (one side of the paper). Color them, punch a hole at the top, thread a ribbon through, and utilize them as ornaments on the tree. They will endure longer if you laminate them.
  • Duplicate two coloring pages per sheet (one side of the paper). Color them, cut them apart, and glue them onto the front of a handmade Christmas greeting card.
  • Establish a Kindness Wall Display. Position the final coloring sheets on a wall or bulletin board. Add notes concerning kindness, sharing, and what the holiday spirit signifies to you. How do you feel inspired by the Grinch’s heart enlarging? It serves as a beautiful reminder of generosity and unity, which encapsulates the essence of this season.

The Grinch Narrative and Films

The tale of the Grinch is truly a timeless classic. It was penned by Dr. Seuss. The Grinch resides on Mount Crumpit alongside his canine companion, Max. Initially, he appears as a cranky, green fellow (as my granddaughter puts it) whose heart is rumored to be “two sizes too small.”

This leads him to genuinely dislike the joyful Christmas festivities of the Whos down in Whoville.

He devises a plot to “steal” Christmas and prevent it from occurring. I wouldn’t want to spoil the conclusion of the story. You simply must read the book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, if you haven’t done so already. Here’s a link to the book:

Then proceed to watch the movie. It has become one of our Christmas traditions to kick off the season.

There is a girl in our community who bought a Grinch outfit and shares pictures online of her engaging in various activities while dressed as the Grinch. It’s hilarious to see her driving the tractor on her farm or pushing a shopping cart in the local store as the Grinch! So entertaining!
